There was an episode where Sam becomes a retarded man in the late 1950s who is struggling to get and keep a job in a factory so that his brother’s family won’t put him in an institution for the rest of his life. There are stories on that show that have not been shown on other shows. He’s always scoping out the asses of any woman Sam meets, encouraging him to screw everyone and otherwise act in a selfish manner. Sure, there’s a sweet sensibility to it, a “do-gooder” theme, but the funny thing is that Dean Stockwell’s character is a good acidic counteragent to that theme. The show is actually good, if you watch it. When Sci-Fi started showing them in the afternoon during a period when I had the TV on in the background all fucking day long to keep me company as I worked at home, I stumbled into it around the time they started showing them from the beginning again. I always hated Quantum Leap for years, would flip the channel instantly on detecting it.įunny thing, that was without ever having watched a full episode.
